Abstract

Alterations of the Temporomandibular Joint affect sports performance, due to its intimate relationship with occlusion, head position and directly affecting posture.
It is known in sports medicine, but little known in dentistry. Elite sports medicine seeks, above all, the functional balance of the entire organism, since any demand is key to surpassing records in competition and any benefit, no matter how minimal, will mean the difference between success or failure.
