Outline of the Conference

Purpose of the Seminar

An interface bounding phases of materials called a free boundary. Typical examples include a crystal surface and a grain boundary. It is important to predict and control its shape not only in natural science but also in applied fields like life science, image segmentations, data science. The problem is often modelled by nonlinear partial differential equations which have been studied for many years. In this seminar, we gather mathematical analysts, numerical analysts, geometric analysts, control theorists of these equations and materials scientists, image analysts, data scientists to find a new research direction based on serious discussion on the mathematical foundation and its applications. We intend to promote mathematical analysis, numerical analysis and geometric analysis and to apply them to materials science, life science, image processing, data science.
